James Randall

Attorney at Law

Jim has been in private practice in Olympia since 2001. His legal practice has consistently focused on three substantive areas: business, real estate and debtor-creditor work. About half of his practice involves litigation and the remainder is transactional work and counseling his clients.

As a litigator, Jim has tried cases in both state and federal Court and litigated cases in US bankruptcy Court and in state administrative proceedings.

As a transactional attorney Jim has helped clients negotiate and conclude a wide variety of business and real estate deals. These included the purchase or sale of many closely held companies across a range of sizes, structures and industries. He has formed numerous business entities from simple single member entities to complex multi-member entities with nine-figure holdings. Jim has also concluded hundreds of real estate transactions.

Jim also regularly helps clients with debtor-creditor issues. On the creditor side, he has represented local and regional banks and credit unions, private lenders, and a variety of commercial creditors, enforce their rights. He also represents lenders in commercial foreclosures and has represented both creditors and debtors in receiverships.

Jim has worked through any number and type of issues and resolutions involving distressed real estate. Jim has successfully represented many creditors in Chapters 7, 11, and 13. He has counseled clients through debt acquisition as a means of acquiring property and creditor clients through debt sales as a means of recovery. He has also advised businesses and individuals in loan workouts and debt renegotiation.

Jim is a thoughtful, pragmatic, and candid adviser and a strong advocate for his clients. Jim works hard to understand the complicated issues his clients face, find ways to help them navigate those issues, and ultimately to achieve their goals.
